Mt Yala Peak Climbing with Langtang Trek

Mt Yala Peak Climbing, a beautiful trekking experience that leads all the way to the summit of Yala Peak (5550 m), is an easy mountaineering experience within a short period of time, in the Langtang Region of Nepal. You will be rewarded by the spectacular views of Mountains dominated by the Lantang Lirung, Dorje Lakapa and Shisapagma. Due to its average height, it has attracted many climbers in the recent period. The climb doesn’t require any technical skills but is physically challenging. The use of fixed rope and crampons become handy in the steep ice section of the final climb. Apart from conquering the Himalayan summit, the trekking is itself an exciting adventure. You will closely experience the Himalayan lifestyles and Tibetan culture in its pristine form. You will also be amazed by the turquoise Lakes, massive glaciers and high passes on the way.

The walk starts from Syafrubesi within the lush forests trail moving along the river flowing through a narrow Gorge, taking us all the way to Langtang Valley. The valley lies in the lap of high snow capped giants in the north and small peaks in the south. The place devastated by the Earthquake in April 12, 2015 has never lost its natural grace. Moving a little higher, we reach Kyanjing Gompa (3740m), place named after an ancient monastery. We can visit monasteries and cheese factory in the nearby’s. From there we head to Yala Peak Base camp and conquer the Yala Peak. After achieving our quest, we ascend down through the same route.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Khanjim, 6 hours jeep ride and walk 3 hours.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1462m) by private jeep (7 hrs) We head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridge line vistas to Syabrubesi. The first part of your trip we will drive up to Trishuli Bazaar smoothly. Then, the path moves along the gravel road. During the rainy season, the road is sometimes blocked due to landslides. Upon reaching at Syabrubesi; we trek to Khanjim to stretch our legs. Stay overnight at lodge in Khanjim.

Day 2: Trek to Rimche or Lama Hotel.

Resume the journey after having a good breakfast, the track goes on passing the villages. The high trail that passes through Wangal, Khanjim and Sherpagaon. From Sherpa Gaun, the trail descends down to Rimche at the elevation of 2324 meter close to Lama Hotel.

Day 3: 6-7 hours walk to Mundu (3360m) from Rimche.

Trek to Langtang from Lama Hotel; we continue gently ascending above the Langtang Khola. As the trail proceeds, it becomes steeper. From time and again we can have the most exotic sights of Langtang Lirung lying at 7246 m. The trail leads to a log bridge and on climbing further we come across lush meadows of Ghora Tabela at 2992m. We will see several lodges and a police check post. Further on, the route opens up into a wide valley of yak pastures and scattered Tamang villages showcasing water-driven mills and prayer wheels. On descending for a while, we arrive at Langtang village after crossing a stream and reaching to the height 3430 m.

Day 4: 3 to 4 hours leisure walk to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m) from Mundu

The trail skirts gradually through rich yak pastures and interesting traditional villages of Muna to Singdun. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. Finally, on ascending along the mountain passes we arrive at Kyanjin Gompa. There is a small monastery and a government- operated cheese factory. Overnight at lodge

Day 5: Additional day at Kyanjin Gompa to acclimatize or exploration around.

Additional day to rest at Kyanjin Gompa, some of the best recommended side trips are: a day hike Tsergo Ri (4985m) or Langshisha Kharka or half day hike to lower Kyanjin Ri that helps you getting acclimatized or This is a day to rest and relax. There are several worthwhile excursions up to the glaciers. The valley is in the midst of exceptionally rugged and beautiful mountain ranges, ringed with glaciers, snowfalls and huge moraines. Overnight at lodge.

Day 6: Trek to Yala Peak Base Camp (4800 m)

Today we trek along the rocky glacier trail. While trekking you will enjoy with the views of Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Yala peak and others. Your overnight stay will be at the tented camp and the food will be prepared by our guide /camping cook.

Day 7: Summit Yala Peak (5732 m) and back to Kyanjin Gompa

Today our main adventure day begins. An early morning we wake up and prepare ourselves for the climb. When you reach the summit of Yala peak, you will be stunned by the panoramic views of Shishapangma, Dorje Lakpa, Ganchenpo, Naya Kang, Tserko Ri, Langtang Lirung and many other Tibetan mountains. After the summit you will return to Kyanjin Gompa for overnight stay at lodge.

Day 8: 6 -7 hours walk to Lama Hotel (2470m) from Kyanjin.

After breakfast we take a route back to Lama Hotel following the same trail that we had retraced before climbing to Langsisa Ri Peak. We stop briefly for lunch on the way and thereafter continue our walk down to Lama Hotel.

Day 9: 6 Hours walk to Syabrubesi (1462 m)

In this day, you keep walking through the forests trail until reaching Pairo which takes about 3 hours. You have lunch break here. After lunch you skip the trail to Syabrubesi. You keep walking the trail following Langtang Khola until reaching Syabrubesi. You can celebrate for making successful of Langtang trek with Yala Peak climbing with Wilderness Excursion.

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu (1300m).

We drive back to Kathmandu through the endless terraces of lowland Nepal, the 7 hour drive get back us to the buzz and bustle of Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu
