Mt Singa Chuli Peak climbing with Annapurna BC Trek

Mt Singu Chuli, (6501m)an attractive mountain for climbing, is also known as Fluted Peak . The mountain can be seen from Annapurna South base camp but the better shape of the mountain with pointed ridge of snow and ice is seen from the moraines above the lodges. The normal route for Singu Chuli climbing is from North-East Face.

We follow the trekking trail up to Machhapuchhre base camp and then cross South Annapurna Glaciers and moraines to reach grassy meadows to a rock overhang which can be used as base camp ( 4,200m.). We climb through the glaciers towards north and pass through grassy shelf to reach a ridge where we will set up high camp ( 4,900m.). From this camp we continue climbing between the glaciers and the flank of the mountain to reach a plateau below the North-East Face. We will fix Camp I on a shelf ( 5,600m.) just below the center of the face. We climb towards right hand which lead us just below a vertical wall (122m.). We follow a gully on the left and climb steep steps to gain upper section of the East-Ridge and then to the summit.a

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1338m

Our Himalayan Windhorse representatives welcome you at the Kathmandu airport and transferred you to the hotel. They will also help you to check in at the hotel where you can rest for the day.

Day 2: Kathmandu Cultural Tour

A sightseeing cultural tour of the mystical Kathmandu valley gets organized on this day. A professional tour guide and heritage expert will give you a guided tour of the various ancient sites around Kathmandu.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (850m)

An 8-9 hour drive on a tourist coach from Kathmandu will take you to Pokhara. Pokhara is a charming little city of lakes. You can check in to the hotel in the Lakeside area.

The lakeside area on the banks of Lake Phewa has an exuberant nightlife and is the tourist hub of Pokhara. You will spend the night in the hotel in Lakeside, Pokhara.

Day 4: Drive to Nayapul, Trek to Tikhedhunga (1577m)

A morning drive from Tikhedhunga to Nayapul takes about one and a half hours. The trek journey starts our trek from Nayapul. We move towards the Modi Khola River valley on the trip.

Crossing the Modi Khola river through a suspension bridge, we move past the green terraced farmed villages towards Birethanti. At the premises of Birethanti, there is a checkpoint of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.

We are completing the necessary formalities and move towards the village of Tikhedhunga. A pristine waterfall will welcome you along the way. We stay overnight at Tikhedhunga

Day 5: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2855m)

After an early breakfast, the trail climbs up steeply towards Ulleri village after a trek of almost 2 hours. The uphill trail gently continues until we arrive at Banthanti, which takes about 1 hour.

We can enjoy the spectacular view of Machhapuchhre, HiunChuli, and Annapurna South from Banthanti. After having lunch at Banthanti, the trail gradually ascends for almost 2 hours until we reach Ghorepani.

Ghorepani is a famous Magar settlement in the region. The extra close up view of the majestic snow capped mountains is breathtaking. We spend the night in a lodge at Ghorepani.

Day 6: Hike to Poon Hill (3200m), trek to Tadapani (2595m)

We will hike early morning to Poon hill passing through the lush Rhododendron forests. The unobstructed view of the sunrise from the viewpoint in Poon hill is a thing of beauty.

The majestic mountains visible from the viewpoint include Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167m, Annapurna I 8,091m, Annapurna III 7,855m, Varaha Shikhar 7,847m, Annapurna IV 7,525m, Annapurna II 7,937m, Mt. Annapurna South 7,219m, Tukuche Peak 6,920m, Nilgiri 6,940m, Machhapuchhre 6,993m, Lamjung Himal 6,931m among others.

We return to our hotel in Tadapani for breakfast. The trail then ascends to Deurali-La for about one and a half hours. The Deurali-La is at the same height as Poon Hill. We follow the route passing through deep forests until we reach Banthanti after a trek of almost 2 hours.

After having lunch at Banthanti, we resume our trek to Tadapani village for about an hour. Beautiful forests surround the Tadapani village. If we are lucky, we can spot a few wild animals along the way. The trekkers spot local monkeys and a wide variety of birds on the jungle trail.

Day 7: Trek from Tadapani

On this day, we will trek along the trails that descents through the forests until we arrive at Siprong. This trekking journey takes about 2 hours. We will walk for about an hour crossing a suspension bridge. The trail then gradually ascends until we reach Gurjung.

After having lunch at Gurung, we will hike up and pass the big landslide prone area. We finally arrive at Chhomrong village after a trek of almost 2 hours. The village presents an opportunity to explore Gurung culture and lifestyle.

The impact of Buddhism is enormous around the region. You can enjoy the picturesque mountains in a close-up.

Day 8: Trek from Chhomrong (2340m) to Dovan (2720m).

The trial resumes from Chhomrong to Dovan, passing along the Modi Khola river. We leave the settlement area of the foothills to the high altitude wooden slopes of Himalayas.

The trek up to Sinuwa Danda passes along many suspension bridges. After arriving at Sinuwa, the ascent becomes less challenging. We pass through a dense forest of rhododendron up to Khuldighar.

After arriving at Khuldighar, we descend through the steep stone steps. We pass through deep bamboo and rhododendron forests until we arrive at Bamboo. The gentle climb takes about one and a half hours of walking. We finally reach Dovan and stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 9: Trek from Dovan (2720m) to Machhapuchhre base camp (3700m).

We climb steeply from Dovan to arrive at the fire-blackened overhang of Hinko Cave. The trail then arrives at a village called Deurali. Leaving Deurali behind, we descent into the narrow valleys as we enter the gateway to the Sanctuary.

We hike further for some distance to arrive at a flat, grassy moraine with several lodges. The area will eventually lead up to the Machapuchare Base camp. In the afternoon, we can go to the ridge behind the camp where we can view the glacier.

The jaw-dropping view of the Machhapuchhre Himal is incredible. We can also view the Annapurna 1 & 3, Gangapurna in the distance. We camp overnight in the Machapuchare base camp.

Day 10: Trek from Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m) to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m).

We have a short trek day ahead of us on day ten. The gentle ascent from Machhapuchhre base camp to Annapurna South Base Camp is only 4 kilometres or two and a half mile in the distance.

The enchanting views of the mountain peaks enthral us along the way. We climb a steep section before we arrive at the Annapurna base camp area.

On the afternoon we loosen up and admire the stunning mountain amphitheatre like the scenery in the Himalayas. We camp at the open night sky in a tent.

Day 11: Acclimatization day at Annapurna Base Camp.

We acclimatize and rest on this day at Annapurna base camp. The relentless trek leads us to almost 4,000 meters above sea level. The process of acclimatization helps us avoid high altitude sickness.

It also ensures the successful ascent of the summit of Singu Chuli Peak. However, acclimatization doesn’t mean we stay idle. We keep moving around and tale short hiking trips around Annapurna Base Camp.

The marvellous views of Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Annapurna South and other surrounding snow-capped mountains accompany us along the trail. We return to the base camp in the afternoon and stay overnight at the camp.

Day 12: Trek from Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) to Singu Chuli Base Camp (4350m).

After acclimatizing a whole day at Annapurna Base Camp, we descend gently to the Annapurna glacier. Our trail goes over the glacier and crosses it before following a challenging trail that climbs to Singu Chuli Base Camp.

The trek today is quite taxing and strenuous. Regular breaks with hydration help in conserving energy for the further trek. Our Sherpa crew will aid us in setting up the camps and make other necessary preparations.

We have to set up two more camps above the base camp. We spend the night over looking at the night sky at a tent.

Day 13: Trek from Singu Chuli Base Camp (4350m) to High Camp (Camp I) (4900m).

After strolling around the base camp, we begin our trek through the snow-covered path. The uphill journey towards the Singu Chuli camp I (High camp) is quite strenuous. The trail is covered in snow and moves through glacial moraines.

After trekking for almost 5-6 hours, we arrive at the camp I or the high camp. We find a good campsite and accommodate ourselves in the Camp I. We stay overnight in the camp.

Day 14: Trek from High camp (Camp I) (4900m) to a Higher camp(Camp II) (5500m).

We move through the Snow and ice covered trail. The slippery path is quite dangerous, and the climbers must cross it with extreme caution.

After an arduous journey almost 3-4 hours, we arrive at the higher camp of Singu Chuli camp II. We find a suitable campsite where we set up our tents and stay overnight.

Day 15: Summit the Singu Chuli Peak (6501m), Retrace to Base Camp.

The most important part of the expedition dawns upon us on this day. We will start the exciting climb quite early to avoid the harsh winds in the afternoon. The expedition team is fully equipped and prepared.

We slowly follow the directions provided by the expert veteran climbers. The first part of the climb is rather technical. We use ropes, crampons, ice axes and other equipment while making the challenging ascent to the summit.

After reaching the top of the summit, we enjoy the spectacular and rewarding views of majestic mountains of the Annapurna range. The mountains create a natural amphitheatre-like atmosphere.

We spend some quality on the summit taking pictures and making memories. The trail then descends to arrive at the SinguChuli Camp II. We subsequently retrace back to camp I and eventually at the base camp. We camp at the base camp and stay overnight.

Day 16: Trek from Singu Chuli Base Camp(4300m) to Machhapuchhre Base Camp(3700m).

We resume our trek descending downhill from Singu Chuli Base Camp to Machhapuchhre base camp. The trail traces back the same route we passed through earlier.

We pass through Annapurna Base Camp lies on our route towards Machhapuchhre base camp . We take a break at Annapurna base camp and observe the beautiful scenario.

After trekking for a long distance, we arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where we stay overnight. The up-close view of Mt. Machhapuchhre Himal is stunning from the base camp.

Day 17: Trek from Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m) to Dovan (2720m).

We trek back from Machhapuchhre base camp to Dovan on this day. We move along the trail passing through the glacier and overlooking the snow-capped mountains of Annapurna I and III, Annapurna, and Machhapuchhre Himal.

After covering some distance in the trek, we climb into the narrow valleys of the Sanctuary. We exit from the gateway to the Sanctuary to arrive at the village of Deurali.

The descend steeply along the trail to arrive at Dovan after passing through the fire-blackened overhang of Hinko Cave.

Day 18: Trek from Dovan to Jhinu Danda (1600m)

From Dovan, we descend to Chhomrong Khola. The trail then ascents up to the Choomrong Village. From here, we resume our trek towards Jhinu danda, which is a steep descent.

Jhinu danda is famous for its relaxing hot springs. We can loosen up at the many hot springs of the Jhinu Danda. The trek has almost come to an end. We stay overnight at in and a lodge.

Day 19: Trek from Jhinu Danda to Pothana (1900m).

We leave Jhinu Danda after an early breakfast. The trail first descends and then flattens out before arriving at Himal Pani. From here, we ascend gradually and then cross several water streams.

There are plenty of terraced fields before we arrive at Landruk. Landruk is a sizeable inhabited settlement of Gurung, Magar, and Brahmin ethnic tribe. The trek moves ahead until we reach the Gurung village of Pothana.

Day 20: Trek from Pothana to Dhampus Phedi

Drive to Pokhara
The last day of the trek moves ahead from Pothana to Phedi. We descend for an hour and then walk along a gravel road for almost two hours.

The trail then descends steeply through green paddy fields and dense forests to arrive at Dhampus Phedi. We drive back to Pokhara from Dhampus Phedi. We enjoy the last day of our trek in the lakeside area of Pokhara.

The Lakeside on the banks of Lake Phewa has a vibrant nightlife. We spend the night in a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 21: Drive/fly back to Kathmandu.

We can drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu on a scenic drive of almost 6-7 hours. You can also take an early morning flight to Kathmandu.

Day 22: Departure from Kathmandu.

Our staff will drop you at the airport from the hotel. You can then board a flight to your desired destination.
